Welcome to Mac Menders

You have a Mac and it was working just fine at one point.

And now it's not.

Something's gone either mildly or horribly awry and the time has come to fix it or reclassify this once-wonderful (and very expensive) computer as an unwieldy paperweight.

That's where Mac Menders comes in.

Recent Updates:

-Rate change: Come October 1st, 2007, Mac Menders will be operating under a revised rate structure. Please be advised and visit the rates page for additional information regarding this change.

-Yacht Rock, Episode 2: Loggins and McDonald versus Hall and Oates, complete with a lucky harpoon and the unadulterated power of smooth music.

-"Lazy Sunday": Ryan Conner mentioned that Andy Samberg might be able to save Saturday Night Live and from this short sketch, I believe him. The family movie-going experience meshed with hard core rap.

-Mac Menders adds iPod Loading and Configuration Services: For new iPod owners (um, these things have gotten moderately popular), Mac Menders has now added an iPod loading and configuration service in which we'll pick up your iPod, CD collection (no matter what the size) and encode the music to your iPod for a cheap price. Check the link for additional details.

-Parts Page Updated: The Mac Menders parts page has been edited to match current inventories. Take a look to see if there's anything you need. From unopened RAM to older (and increasingly harder to find) Apple AirPort cards, it's all there. Don't let a good deal pass you by!

-Bill Maher: Presidential Recall: I know it's not politically objective, but you've got to admit, he makes it look easy.

-Important notice regarding downloads: As much as I hate doing so, I've had to remove the Invader Zim and larger media files from the available downloads, as they've created a situation in which the site's monthly bandwidth is habitually overrun, thus making the site entirely unavailable. This does me no good, especially considering that this is a critical contact point for my business. The links, shareware, freeware and utilities will, of course, remain available, but the time has come to say goodbye to the Zim episodes (and given that the DVDs have been out for a while now, please support the show's creators by heading out and buying them. They're not that expensive in the long run and you'll be doing the right thing.)

-3 Fast 3 3urious: I never believed the "Fast and the Furious" movies to be anything more than intestinal scrape, which falls in line with everything else Jerry Bruckheimer has had a hand in. Still, this is a good parody and worth the click.

-The Swedish Chef: A collection of old Swedish Chef skits in a .zip archive. No matter how badly your day's gone, you'd be hard pressed not to stop and laugh.

-Where It All Began: The 1984 unveiling of the Macintosh and its first demo run. Prior to the Super Bowl commercial and all the hubbub, this is where the Macintosh took center stage and proved itself worthy as the computer of choice.

-Skype 1.0.0.18: A cool cross-platform voice-over-Internet-protocol (VOIP) utility that allows the user to send and receive voice data for free. Long story short, forget the phone; with a little bit of geekiness, all your phone calls are essentially free.

-Buddy Rich vs. Animal: A brief and much-needed dose of Muppety goodness. I used to play the skins myself once upon a time. Wasn't great at it, wasn't terrible. Take a gander and click away. I think you'll like what you see.

-VLC Media Player 0.8.1: A terrific Mac OS X utility for DivX, DVD, MPEG and Ogg playback. Everything QuickTime lacks, this is.

-Konfabulator 1.8.1 and Palm Desktop 4.1: The finest examples of free software. Useful and cool as anything you'll ever download for the Mac, give them a shot.

-Synergy 1.4.1: A cool chunk of shareware that allows you to control iTunes from the menu bar. Give it a toss and see what you make of it.

-Parts for Sale: Mac Menders' inventory of available computer parts on hand. It may be obscure, but it could also be just what you're looking for.

-Jaws in 30 Seconds (with bunnies): This probably won't make you smarter, but it will make you laugh.

-My Little Transformer: Words elude me regarding this site, but Silas and Mary have created something extremely cool via their stop-motion short movies of life centering around these giants of the 80's. And, based on this, a link is most definitely in order...

-iGlasses: A cool shareware utility that allows iSight users to customize their iSight video settings. While the Night Vision feature may not impress your siginificant other, in their heart of hearts, they KNOW this is amazingly cool...

-Nematoad Goodness: Because Lisa is both talented as well as demented. Kindly visit her web site and browse her art pieces for sale.

-Because I Lack All Respect for your Mental Well-Being: Actually, I possess great espect for your brain meats and the thoughts therein. Still, the mighty chinchilla must be the acknowledged, revered and addressed in a proper fashion. Cute to the nth degree, furry and entirely harmless. Kindly hug your chinchilla today.

-If something's on your mind, vent it over in the forums.

-Dungeons and Dragons: The movie rendition of the classic comedy track by the Dead Alewives. Bloody brilliant and a must-have for anyone who's played Summoner or Red Faction.

-Sometimes Scott Kurtz hits the nail of geekdom right on the head.
